A section of defective track has been reported between Stockport and Manchester Piccadilly. To allow trains to travel over the affected area, an emergency speed restriction has been imposed. Work will take place overnight tonight to repair the affected section of track. Advice for Avanti West Coast customers: If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.
