Notting Hill Carnival
๐ Woo it’s finally the bank holiday weekend! Which means... it's time for the Notting Hill Carnival, the world's second largest carnival!
It’s all fun and games, until it comes to transport. Yes unfortunately, getting around Notting Hill will be a bit messy, but if you managed to get home after Beyoncé’s concert, this should be a walk in the park. Disruptions will mainly be station closures or exit-only stations on the Tube, and diverted or curtailed bus routes in the area.
๐ Station closures / Exit-only stations
On Sunday 27 and Monday 28:
- Holland Park: Exit only 11:00–15:00. Closed after 15:00.
- Ladbroke Grove: Closed.
- Latimer Road: Closed after 23:30.
- Notting Hill Gate: May close occasionally to manage congestion. Central Line: exit only 11:00–18:00. District and Circle lines: not stopping between 11:00–18:00.
- Queensway: Exit only 11:00–18:00.
- Royal Oak: Exit only 11:00–18:00. Closed after 18:00.
- Westbourne Park: Exit only 11:00–18:00. Closed after 23:30.
๐ Buses
Some bus journeys in West London will take longer due to diversions or routes being stopped short of their destination. Bus stops in the vicinity of the Carnival will be closed.
๐ Tower Bridge closure
Side note, the beautiful Tower Bridge needs maintenance, so it will be closed for EVERYONE from 22:00 Friday 25 Aug to 5:00 Tuesday 29 Aug. This means that route 343 will finish at Tooley Street/Unicorn Theatre while bus routes 42 and 78 will be diverted through London Bridge during this time. No cycling (or scooter-ing) across Tower Bridge will be possible, of course.
That’s it. Have a lovely long weekend!
